Exciting Economic Development Partnerships Emerge as Grow Spink Formally Dissolves

December 17, 2025

After 23 years of work in support of housing, business retention and expansion, and workforce development, Grow Spink, Inc., the economic development corporation for Spink County, voted to formally dissolve.

“For more than 2 decades, Grow Spink provided a strong foundation for collaboration and economic progress throughout Spink County. In recent years, our funding sources have become more limited and many community priorities have changed. Luckily, several of the communities we serve have established their own localized development efforts, which has reduced the need for a regional coordinating body,” said former executive director Gianna Schieffer.

While the announcement left an impact on those who pioneered the development of Grow Spink and guided its mission, it will pave the way for our economic development partners to strengthen their bonds and commitment to supporting and enhancing the lives of residents and business owners in Spink County.

A huge shout out to the amazing individuals and their tireless commitment to Spink County during Grow Spink’s impressive, 23-year run.

Proud of the Partnerships Throughout the Years

Over the years, Grow Spink has played a pivotal role in multiple development efforts throughout the county, including:

  • Building spec homes
  • Partnering in the development of the 42-lot Prairie Winds Estates, Redfield’s newest housing development
  • Developing business development initiatives such as the establishment of Redfield Energy and tackling workforce challenges which includes the formation of our annual Career Here! event for high school students
  • Facilitating the Spink County Daycare project

“I am proud of the partnerships developed, grants secured, and long-term planning efforts supported during my time. It has been an honor to work alongside so many dedicated community leaders, businesses and residents over the past 7 years as Executive Director,” said Schieffer.

Supporting the Continued Growth of Redfield

However, the spirit of economic growth will continue, thanks to the diligence and tireless efforts of community stakeholders including the Redfield Area Development Corporation and the Redfield Area Chamber of Commerce.

Schieffer will also retain a leadership position and continue with her unyielding commitment to the residents and businesses in our region.

“I am excited to take on a new role as Executive Director for Redfield Area Development Corporation and look forward to serving the Redfield community and supporting its continued growth,” she said.

Our economic development partners, investors, and board members will remain proactive and hands on about projects/events concerning our amazing area.
