Parks and Recreation Director Open Position

March 21, 2024

The City of Redfield is currently accepting applications for the position of  Parks and Recreation Director.  

The position requires a comprehensive knowledge of 

  • park and recreation programs, 
  • the ability to manage and supervise others, 
  • working knowledge of budget administration, 
  • the ability to express oneself orally and in writing, 
  • the ability to plan and direct a program of recreation and park activities and maintenance, 
  • and working knowledge of tree and shrub maintenance.  

Desirable experience and training should include a minimum of a B.A. or B.S. degree in Park and Recreation or a similar field or equivalent work experience.

The Pheasant Capital of the World®

Redfield is the first recorded place in South Dakota to successfully introduce the Chinese Ringneck Pheasant. This lead to the first open season on October 30, 1919.  From Spink County, pheasant hunting grew throughout the state.  Hunters still flock to Redfield to bag their limit.
