Quality Rural Healthcare
Monday, December 02, 2019
Rural Americans face more challenges than their urban peers in accessing quality healthcare. Lack of specialized services in small towns means patients have to travel a long way to get the care they need. This can translate to unnecessary delays in care and diagnoses.
Our region is fortunate to have excellent care through the nonprofit Community Memorial Hospital and Redfield Clinic. It was designated as a critical access hospital in 2000.
A $6.2 million expansion and renovation project in 2009 further augmented healthcare services and facilities, adding 13 new inpatient rooms, two cardiac care rooms, two emergency rooms as well as a pharmacy, patient registration area and a new ambulance/emergency entrance.
